The NBA Atlantic Division Power Rankings 2021

The NBA Atlantic Division Power Rankings 2021

One of the three divisions in the Eastern Conference of the NBA, the Atlantic Division is comprised of prominent teams located on the East Coast of the United States (excluding the Raptors, of course). Many NBA fans consider the Atlantic Division as one of the best in the NBA.

Whilst The Celtics have won the most overall Atlantic Division titles with a massive 21 wins, how will the Division perform this 2021/22 season? Let’s look at some 2022 NBA predictions and find out!

Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are one team that you should not write off. Kyle Lowry may have joined the Heat, and questions may remain at the center position, but Nick Nurse’s team making a postseason run in 2022 will not surprise anyone. Nurse is an elite tactician who should have no problems replacing the franchise’s marquee losses with the talent in the team. The Raptors will welcome Scottie Barnes in defense, with the rookie joining OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam to form an exceptionally tight perimeter defense. Precious Achiuwa also has all it takes to become a fan favorite up in the North. Talks of an all-out rebuild for the Raptors may have been premature, with a retooling looking the more likely action to occur.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics have missed out on James Harden, Paul George, and Anthony Davis in recent years, and they now find themselves in some sort of NBA purgatory. With franchise anchors Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum and new addition Dennis Schröder, Boston has a roster solid enough to seal a comfortable playoff spot. If they can complete a savvy acquisition before 2022-23 (hello, Bradley Beal), they would genuinely catapult into the Eastern Conference elite.

New York Knicks

Looking further into the NBA power rankings of 2022, the Knicks’ current roster is not lifting the championship anytime soon, but they should reach the playoffs again next season. Backcourt duo Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier bring a considerable scoring boost, and RJ Barrett has the potential to be one of the best young talents in the league. Expect Tom Thibodeau’s team to give opposition teams a pretty significant amount of trouble every night with this group of players that look set to string together a bunch of playoff appearances.

Philadelphia 76ers

The situation with Philadelphia point guard Ben Simmons does not look like quieting down anytime soon, and it’s hard to see the star starting with the 76ers. It is a situation that will likely shape the franchise’s season. If he stayed, and they landed Damian Lillard, we could look at a potential Eastern Big Three with Brooklyn, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia. Getting a non-Lillard package could improve the Sixers’ long-term health, but only a superstar acquisition can truly take them to the top of the conference. Daryl Morey missed out on James Harden, and now, he will need to develop creative ways to keep up with the top of the Eastern Conference.

Brooklyn Nets

Durant is perhaps the greatest player alive, while James Harden is already accomplishing great feats of victory in his first full season with the Brooklyn Nets. Kyrie Irving continues to be an outstanding point guard when fully healthy, and the rest of the Net’s remarkable team includes high-quality players that can flatter the star duo. However, health can be a crucial quality, as established in the 2020/21 season. Yet it is impossible to not count the Brooklyn Nets as victors of the Larry O’Brien Trophy next summertime due to the team’s incredible talent.
